You are not being rude by asking these. A responsible breeder will be pleased you did, and will have documents ready. Vague answers, defensiveness or "they're all healthy, don't worry about tests" are the answer you need.
Bring the list to the visit and take notes. Compare what you are told against the puppy's parents in front of you and against the paperwork.
The core questions
What health tests have both parents had, and can I see the certificates? (Expect eye testing for PRA; ask about back/IVDD screening where schemes exist; for wire minis, Lafora.) Why did you choose this particular mating? Can I meet the mother, and is she yours?
How are the puppies being socialised — what sounds, surfaces and people have they met? What is the neutering, vaccination and worming status? What do you feed, and what will you send home? What is your contract — health guarantee, and do you take the dog back if things go wrong?
Red-flag answers
"We can do double dapple / blue / cream at extra cost." "No need for tests, the line's clear." "You can collect at eight weeks, deposit now, no visit needed." "We always have puppies available." "She's a friend's bitch, not here."
Any one of these is a reason to keep looking. A good dachshund is worth a wait and a drive.
