Insurance for Permanent Makeup

At minimum, professional indemnity (treatment) and public liability cover, from an insurer that specifically names lip blushing / micropigmentation and matches your training. Product and premises cover are often added.

The core policies

Professional treatment / medical malpractice indemnity: covers claims that the procedure itself caused harm or was negligently performed. Public liability: covers a client injured in your premises (slips, burns, equipment). Product liability: if a product you supplied (aftercare, pigment) is blamed. Premises / contents: your kit and fit-out.

Getting it right

The policy must list the exact treatments you perform (lip blushing, and any brows/eyeliner/areola) and require the training you actually hold — cover can be void if you work outside the named scope or qualifications. Declare any medical conditions you treat or 'corrections' you take on. Keep certificates, consent forms and records; insurers expect them if there is a claim.

Why it is non-negotiable

Many councils/states require proof of insurance for licensing, landlords require it on the lease, and booking platforms require it to list. More importantly, a single allergy or scarring claim without cover can end a business.
