Who Is a Good Candidate for Lip Blushing?

Healthy adults with realistic expectations, stable lips and no disqualifying medical history. A frank consultation and, where needed, a doctor's clearance matter more than any single rule.

Good signs

You are over 18 (many artists prefer 21+), generally healthy, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you want a natural enhancement rather than a dramatic change. Your lips are a stable shape — no very recent filler or surgery — and you can commit to two weeks of careful aftercare and a touch-up.

People who benefit most: pale or 'invisible' lip borders, colour loss with age, mild asymmetry, scars within the lip, or simply lipstick fatigue.

Reasons to wait or reconsider

Active or frequent cold sores (treatable with antiviral cover), pregnancy and breastfeeding, isotretinoin use in the last 6–12 months, uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune or bleeding disorders, keloid tendency, recent lip filler, and any allergy to tattoo pigments.

None of these is automatically permanent — most are 'not now' rather than 'never' — but they need a proper conversation and sometimes a GP letter.

Skin tone and lip colour

Everyone can have lip blushing, but naturally deep or bluish lips usually need a neutralising step first, and the honest result may be 'even and healthy' rather than 'bright pink'. A good artist will show you realistic before-and-afters for your starting point.
