Sumerian Gods Decoded
The Anunna — the oldest written myths we have.
Sumerian Gods Decoded covers the oldest religious literature that survives anywhere — cuneiform texts that predate Homer by well over a thousand years.
It covers the Anunna gods, the Sumerian and later Babylonian creation accounts, the city-and-patron-deity system that organised Mesopotamian life, and the ziggurat temples at its centre.
Because so much depends on fragmentary tablets, the site is careful about the difference between what a text says, what is reconstructed, and what is modern inference.
